The most startling (and telling) thought from the article was, "What would happen if your church closed down?" Would your community even notice other than a vacant lot? If not, then perhaps reevaluating your church's role in the community may be in order. From where I stand, this is a really convicting thought.
Certain actions by churches lately have raised some serious questions like that.
I remember a few months back that there was the story about the church that placed their property under private ownership so that they would pay property taxes because the community felt churches were taking more than they were giving to the community.
